Comment mesure-t-on aujourd\u2019hui le niveau de vie des habitants d\u2019un pays ? Par son PIB par habitant. Si on observe le PIB moyen de l\u2019Europe de l\u2019ouest, il a commenc\u00e9 r\u00e9ellement \u00e0 cro\u00eetre en 1820 : aux alentours des 1750 $ \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9poque, il passe \u00e0 5000 $ en 1950, 15.000 $ en 1980, 20.000 $ en 2000, et aujourd\u2019hui, il tourne aux alentours de 30.000 $. On pourrait donc penser que tout va bien en Europe, et que nos citoyens s\u2019enrichissent\u2026 Alors comment se fait-il que depuis 2000, la pauvret\u00e9 est repartie \u00e0 la hausse et touche un nombre croissant de personnes en emploi ?<\/p>\n

L\u2019approche par le PIB est \u00e9videmment r\u00e9ductrice\u202f: une moyenne ne prend pas en compte la dispersion des situations. En 2018 par exemple, le PIB int\u00e9rieur brut r\u00e9gional par habitant variait entre 30% et 268% de la moyenne de l’Union europ\u00e9enne. Les contrastes sont donc \u00e9normes entre r\u00e9gions, et certainement encore plus entre citoyens.<\/p>\n

On comprend donc mieux les revendications sociales\u00a0: Brexit au Royaume-Uni, mont\u00e9e des populismes en Italie, “gilets jaunes” en France, votes en faveur de l’extr\u00eame droite en Allemagne… le malaise des citoyens sur le vieux continent a pris des formes multiples pour exprimer les \u00e9carts qui se creusent entre les riches qui le deviennent toujours plus et les autres qui continuent \u00e0 s\u2019appauvrir.<\/p>\n

Bien s\u00fbr, il n\u2019est nullement question de retourner au communisme, mais bien de permettre \u00e0 chaque citoyen de vivre d\u00e9cemment\u00a0: se nourrir, se soigner, s\u2019instruire, se divertir, \u00e9videmment un toit au dessus de la t\u00eate avec de quoi se chauffer durant nos hivers humides. Bref, le minimum que nos soci\u00e9t\u00e9s sont tout \u00e0 fait capables de supporter, \u00e0 condition de remettre la justice sociale au c\u0153ur des d\u00e9bats.<\/p>\n
